И Velislava Dareva was born on November 2,1953 in the city of Plovdiv. She graduated mathematics and journalism, specialized in documentary filming, arts and culture, and international politics. At present she is a guest lecturer in journalist mastership. She Speaks Russian, English, Spanish and German. Velislava Dareva was dismissed ten times from job for dissidence. From 1985 to 1989 she was prohibited access to the press, radio and TV; many times interrogated and arrested by the communist state security service.

From 1999 to 2007 she was the author of a series of T. publicity works in defense of the Bulgarian medics in Libya.

Velislava Dareva is holder of a number of priies for journalism and film documentalistics, and has been awarded the grand prize for political journalism "Chernorizets Hrabar "(2003).

The documentary film "Hostages", directed by Andrey Altaparmakov, is based on the screenplay of her book "Ghaddafi Test".
