Introduction to Yoga What is Yoga
Yoga is believed to have been in practice from the start of human evolution. Yoga is derived from the root word yuj, which means to join. There are many definitions based on the meaning of the word. According to some, it is the process of joining your pure self with the Universal Self; to some others it is the process of connecting the head, heart and hand i.e. the process of connecting thinking, feeling, and doing into one. Yoga contains a set of practices, which aim to build awareness on all the things that you do. It has do with philosophy and practices which tone the human from all the aspects that he has i.e. mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual. Patanjali, who has written the book “Patanjali Yoga Sutra", believed to be the bible of Yoga, defines Yoga as “Yogasya Citta vritti nirodah" which means cessation of modification of mind.
